Fromm adds an unmatched combination of fresh produce,
including sweet potatoes, broccoli, alfalfa sprouts, carrots, apples,
blueberries, and cranberries.
Finally, Fromm eschews ordinary grains like corn and wheat in
favor of barley, oats, millet, and brown rice. Eggs and cheddar cheese are added
for texture and flavor. Vegetable and fish oils are included to balance Omega 3
and Omega 6 fatty acids for optimum health. Fromm's own blend of prebiotics and

About Fromm Dry Recipes
Each dry product line is based on the principles defined by late Dr. Willard
Roberts, Ph.D. in 1948. Dr. Roberts is recognized as the father of modern pet
foods, having pioneered the process of producing the dry, granular food that is
so popular today. Tom Nieman, grandson of the late Erna Fromm, continues to
carry on the family legacy by formulating the best dry pet food possible with
today's technology. Each recipe is produced at the company's very own plant in Wisconsin.

Ingredients Q&A Session
Q: Why is there chicken cartilage in your
single source meat/fish protein foods?
A: Natural chicken cartilage contains the
highest levels of unprocessed chondroitin and glucosamine, which helps to
develop, maintain and repair your dog's joints. In relation to the other
ingredients the amount of actual chicken cartilage is very little and is not
likely to promote an allergic reaction in dogs allergic to chicken protein. If
your dog has chronic allergies please consult with your vet first.
Q: Why are there bones in your canned Chicken Thighs for dogs?
Are they safe for my dog?
A: Yes the bones are soft and completely safe to be fully
consumed by dogs of all sizes. Fromm use a a proprietary method to ensure every
bone in every can is cooked to be soft. The process used is similar to a
pressure cooker to ensure the soft pliability of the bone. We encourage you to
place the bone between your forefingers and squeeze gently to see exactly how
soft the bones are. The bones found in our Chicken Thighs for dogs are highly
nutritious and contain bone marrow and cartilage which are extremely beneficial
for overall joint health.
Q: Do you use menadione sodium bisulfate (a source of Vitamin
K activity) in any of your dog foods?
A: Fromm does not use menadione sodium bisulfate in any of its
products. The company eliminated the use of menadione sodium bisulfate in the
winter of 2005.
Q: Do you use wheat gluten, rice gluten or rice protein
concentrates in any of your dog foods?
A: Fromm does not use wheat gluten, rice gluten or rice
protein concentrates in any of its products including canned foods. Wheat gluten
is frequently used by other companies in their canned pet food to make a
manufactured meat substitute product that can be made to look like chunks and
slices or dices of real meat from lower quality meats or inedible (not fit for
human consumption) meat by-products. If you see a rubbery chunk of meat in any
canned pet food it is likely to be a piece of reformed meat made with wheat
gluten. Rest assured, Fromm cans only contain human grade ingredients.
Q: Does
your food contain ethoxyquin?
A: No, Fromm Family Foods recipes do not contain ethoxyquin.
All Fromm ingredients and final products are free from artificial and industrial
preservatives. Additionally Fromm uses high priced fish, whitefish and salmon to
ensure these ingredients are not treated or preserved with ethoxyquin.

Transitioning your pet to Fromm Food
If possible switch the food gradually over a period of a week
or so. Start with a mixture of 25% Fromm and 75% of your old food and feed that
for two or three days, then step it up to 50% to 50% and finally end up
with a mix of 75% Fromm, 25% old food. If you don't detect any changes in your
dog's digestion over the week's time, you can start feeding Fromm exclusively.
If you cannot switch the food gradually it is OK to start feeding Fromm
exclusively, but allow a short period of time for your dog to become acclimated
to the new food. If your dog has a sensitive stomach/stomach irritability it is
recommended to switch over a longer period of time (2 to 4 weeks)

Company Background

Since 1904, The Fromm Family has maintained a tradition of
quiet innovation dedicated to the health and nutrition of animals. In the
1930's, The Fromm Family introduced the first canine distemper vaccine. In 1949,
the company introduced the concept of premium pet food to the public.
As the
country's first and oldest premium pet food company, Fromm has earned the
reputation as an industry leader, producing only the highest grade pet foods
with the finest natural ingredients.
Based in Wisconsin, family owned and operated Fromm Family
Foods is now in its fourth generation. The
company takes great pride in this family commitment, as it ensures that its
customers will continue to receive superior pet food products now and for years
to come.
For more than four generations, the Fromm family has brought
together veterinarians, biochemists, research specialists and food production
engineers to formulate its pet foods.
In 1948, the late Dr. Willard Roberts, Ph.D. and chief
nutritionist created the first generation of Fromm Family Nutritionals pet
foods. Dr. Roberts is recognized as the father of modern pet foods, having
pioneered the process of producing the dry, granular food that's so popular
today.
Since then, Fromm has continued to improve upon each Fromm
Nutritionals recipe, while maintaining certain traditions. For example, the
Classic Nutritionals line is still based on the "four grain principle" and uses
17 different ingredients.
This concentrated, balanced blend of foods results in easier
digestion, fewer allergic reactions, and increased energy for your pet.
Today, Fromm Family Foods is comprised of 3 distinctive brands
or product lines.

Fromm dog and cat foods are considered being holistic. This includes
all product lines. Holistic dog foods are typically all natural dog foods that
contain no fillers utilizing only ingredients which serve a specific nutritional
purpose. A lot of holistic dog foods omit common allergens like wheat and corn.

entirety.
Fromm Family Foods Quality Pledge
Fromm Family Foods is dedicated to
assuring unprecedented quality and safety in all its pet food products. The
Fromm Family has over a 100 year history in animal nutrition and promises to
continue to deliver the finest in dry, canned and treat products for pets.
Recently, another ingredient has been identified in the recall
related to tainted pet food. Fromm Family Foods currently does not use rice
protein in any of its foods, and hasn't done so for a long while.
With the recent number of pet food recalls, many pet owners
have become painfully aware that many of their trusted brands are made by less
than a handful of third party private label manufacturers.
Unlike many other pet
food companies that have all their products made for them by third party
manufacturers, all of the Fromm Dry Pet Foods and Treats are manufactured at the
company's plant located in Wisconsin.
Grain free canned products are processed in a fit only for
human consumption plant. The highest manufacturing standards are used to produce
these products. All of Fromm's canned products have FDA registration numbers.
Certificates of manufacturing integrity are provided for each and every load
before it is allowed to enter the USA or Canada. Each facility has been
rigorously inspected on site by the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency). As
per these certifications by the FDA and CFIA, the company is mandated to
purchase its ingredients from only certified suppliers according to government
directives. There are government inspectors on site during production, and these
facilities supply canned goods world wide including the USA. These facilities
also have EU (European Union) and Kosher Certifications.
Fromm does not use wheat gluten, rice gluten or rice protein
concentrates in any of its products, including the canned foods Wheat gluten is
frequently used by other companies in their canned pet food to make a
manufactured meat substitute product that can be made to look like chunks and
slices or dices of real meat from lower quality meats or inedible (not fit for
human consumption) meat by-products. If you see a rubbery chunk of meat in any
canned pet food it is likely to be a piece of reformed meat made with wheat
gluten. Rest assured, when you open one of the Fromm cans, you will only see
real cuts of whole meat and vegetables. There is no mystery meat and you will
not see anything in the can you don't recognize as real whole food.
While many
people are understandably concerned with products from China, Fromm believes it is
important to assure its customers that its products are made and certified to
strict government edible food standards.
Fromm products are technology based and carefully designed
with an unprecedented visual presentation that allows customers the security to
see exactly what they are feeding their four legged family member.
To Fromm it is most important to think through a purchase
decision based on the product's quality.
